UNWTO is a United Nations agency responsible for promoting tourism for sustainable development.
In a tweet on Wednesday, WTO SG Pololikashvili revealed that Buhari had visited its global headquarters at Poeta Joan Maragall, 42 Madrid, Spain.
He hailed the President’s contribution to the tourism sector.
“Dear President of Nigeria, @MBuhari, welcome to @UNWTO.
“Nigeria is a flagship destination in Africa thanks to high-level support like yours.
“UNWTO-Nigeria cooperation translates into jobs, sustainability and investment.
“We keep moving forward,” said the SG.
The commendation comes ahead of holding its November event in Nigeria, titled “Global Conference on Linkages Between Tourism, Culture and Creative Industries, Pathways to Recovery and Inclusive Development.”
Africa, according to the letter from the UN agency dated May 25, “is endowed with 70% of arable and agricultural land”.
