Southwest Airlines and Luck Presents Announce Second Season of ‘Sites & Sounds’ Content Series Highlighting the Musicians and the Cities That Inspire Them

The second season is available today on and on board South West flights through the airline’s in-flight entertainment portal, where viewers can follow some of their favorite performers like Shovels & Rope and Matthieu Logan Vasquez as they guide through Charleston, Margo Price and Jeremy Ivey while they explore Nashville, and Durand jones and Maria gough as they present New Orleans. The first season of Sites & Sounds kicked off in 2019 with Nikki Street and Lukas nelson in Hawaii, Micah Nelson and Sunny war in Austin, and Chuck Prophet and Aaron Lee Tasjan in San Francisco. The Sites & Sounds episodes revolve around key areas including: culinary destinations with restaurants and chefs, the city’s creative culture with performers and concert halls, the influential locals who make the city great and the perspectives of artists in their respective cities. . This second season introduces a fifth area of ​​focus by incorporating Acts of Kindness, where a local cause the host artist advocates for is highlighted in each of the three episodes, highlighting the A Million Acts of Kindness challenge that South West on the occasion of their 50th anniversary.

For the first episode of Sites & Sounds season two (episode four of the series), husband and wife duo Michel trent and Cary Ann Hearst from Shovels & Rope bring their longtime friend and fellow musician Matthieu Logan Vasquez (Delta Spirit) to their beloved hometown of Charleston. The trio cover much of the quaint southern town; from a traditional little boil in Fast and French – a beloved place the couple used to work – to a waterfront adventure with the right people from Charleston Water Guardians, which showcase what they do to keep the waters clean and expand beyond Charleston as a featured act of kindness. The episode ends with a visit to Dock Street Theater, known as America’s Original Theater, and a preview of what it’s like to play in Cary Ann and Michael’s Island House.

Episode five follows Nashville Dear Margo Price like her and her husband, musician Jeremy Ivey, crosses the city where she has lived for over 20 years. Together, they travel through an endless world of vintage goods, from High Class Hillbilly clothing to records and more at Grimey’s, showcasing the city’s foodie and diverse scene with stops at Heart’s and Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge, and spend a day on the water in a kayak with another artist Kelsey Waldon before getting new tattoos at home. The community work of Thistle farms is highlighted in this episode’s act of kindness.

Episode six brings viewers to the moving city of New Orleans where the artist Durand jones introduces the city in which he grew up to a current emerging local artist Maria gough. The duo satisfy their culinary cravings with a visit to Toup’s Meeatery, a 300-year-old institution known for bringing classic Cajun cuisine to the present day.
