South African cricketer Wayne Parnell and his wife, Aisha Baker, are on vacation in the Maldives with their young children.
The South African couple traveled nearly 24 hours to their destination. Baker, an entrepreneur and influencer, posted on Instagram: “So grateful to be in Heaven to make memories with our little family.”
Once they landed, the family of four proceeded to Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
The luxury resort, known for the use of materials like bamboo, natural stones, and Langhi Langhi leaves, as well as its energy efficiency and environmental conservation, is a popular spot for luxury travelers.
A nightly rate starts from $ 899 (R13,426).
Located on Raa Atoll in the northern part of the Maldives archipelago, Emerald is surrounded by 1.5 km of soft white sand on a lush 20 hectare private island.
There are 120 villas, some on the island and some on the water.
As parents of young children, the couple still found time to relax and spend quality time together.
Baker posted a photo of herself swimming in the morning: “Swim early in the morning while my babies are sleeping.”
In another post, she captured a selfie with her and Parnell, with the caption: “Lovers in Heaven.”
They also enjoyed the family activities at the resort, doing their best to make the trip a memorable one for their little ones.
In one activity, the family went looking for baby sharks.
âLooking for baby sharks having their snack in the ocean,â she posted.
Parnell has also posted snaps from her time with the kids – from time spent in the pool with their newborn to walks on the beach with her older child.
The Maldives are the new playground for South African visitors. With its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, luxury resorts and numerous activities, it is quickly becoming the summer destination for South Africans wishing to venture abroad.
South African celebrities like Anele Mdoda, Zozibini Tunzi and Khuli Chana and his wife DJ Lamiez Holworthy visited the Maldives this year.
