New partnership between Wego and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to boost tourism in the MENA region

Wego saw a 193% increase in searches from the MENA region to Thailand over the past two months compared to February and March 2022.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – We’re goingthe world’s largest online travel marketplace Middle East and North Africa (MENA)bonded with TTourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to invite MNEA travelers to enjoy the best of the country in the new normal.

To revive tourism in Thailand, the country launched the ‘Visit Thailand Year 2022’ country. The campaign under the theme “Amazing New Chapters” whose key messages will highlight the abundance of tourism products and services in Thailand that will satisfy all your travel desires, because from A to Z, Thailand has it all.

The country ranks among the top 10 destinations for GCC travelers. It will be promoted on all Wego marketing channels to attract more visitors to the country and spread awareness of new things to do and explore in the country after COVID-19.

Mr. Chaiwat Tamtai The director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand for Dubai and the Middle East said: “One of the top travel trends for 2022 is workcation. As a result of this trend, Wego saw an increase in searches for vacation homes by 136%, hotel apartments by 92%, and vacation apartments. 69% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year.And to make the country conducive to work travel and remote jobs, Thailand plans to launch a long-term resident visa for retirees, working professionals, specialists and wealthy foreigners.

Thailand’s top search destinations from January to June 2022 are Saudi Arabia which recorded 56% compared to the same period in 2021, followed by Kuwait with a 15% increase, United Arab Emirates with 12% and Bahrain with 7%. 48% of people seeking holidays in Thailand are solo, followed by 27% couples and 24% families.

Thailand ranks among the top 10 destinations for travelers from the CCG in 2022. We are delighted to partner with TAT once again to meet the growing demand for travel from the MENA region.

The campaign also emphasizes instilling the spirit of responsible travel, which means enjoying the highest forms of luxury without disturbing nature, traditional food, local communities, flora and fauna.

A new set of rules has been ruled out for vaccinated and unvaccinated tourists from June 1, 2022 to make Thailand travel-friendly. Tourists over 18 must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before flying to Thailand. Tourists between the ages of 5 and 17 should be vaccinated with the first dose if traveling without their parents.
