Meet Bryan Morel, rising Ugandan journalist, brand manager and humanitarian

KAMPALA – Muhumuza Brian aka Bryan Morel is a Ugandan rising brand executive, humanitarian and publicist.

The 29-year-old celebrity assistant got his start as a freelance assistant to multicultural artists including; Angella Katatumba, Sheilah Gashumba, Judith Heard, Desire Luzinda and Jackie Chandiru.

In 2021, he founded Bryan Morel Publications – an independent team specializing in corporate positioning, strategy, engagement and influencer marketing to drive clients to remarkable.

Early life and family

Bryan was born on August 4, 1993 to Mr. Abel Muhumuza and Mrs. Jovia Kyarimpa in Mbarara.

On July 31, 1994, his father died in a gruesome car accident and spent years training under an uncle Yowath Mugizi Bishanga in religion, humility, resolve and rigor.

Bryan holds a bachelor’s degree in planning and project management from Makerere University.

Personality and Inspiration

He is passionate about music, travel and environmental preservation and admires Yvette Noel-Schure (Beyonce’s publicist).

It has thus developed a network of industry stakeholders.

Internship

On December 9, 2012, while on high school vacation, he joined Diva Awards Afrika. He did media and editorial liaison.

On July 17, 2015, Bryan secured an internship at the Lifelong Learning School at Banda Community ICT Center in Central Uganda. His thesis covered positive living programs among young people.

On September 13, 2015, at the Diva Awards Afrika, Muhumuza and her team recognized icons Juliana Kanyomozi, Halima Namakula, Aisha Nabukeera, Roz Merie Atim and Joanita Kawalya of Afrigo Band.

Career Highlights

On March 8, 2014, as a fan credential, Bryan represented singer Iryn Namubiru and her management at the Airtel Women’s Day concert with Nyanda Thorbourne of Brick & Lace in Kampala Garden City.

On June 6, 2015, he hosted the double premiere of Jackie Chandiru’s music video of Wotuuse and Omukwano in partnership with NBS TV.

May 23 – 24, 2016 Participation and representation at the United Nations (UN) World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, at the invitation of Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon and presented by Angella Katatumba Development Foundation.

July 1, 2016 Organization of the ‘Mulago Yaffe’ concert dotted with diplomats in Kampala Serena in association with Angella Katatumba Development Foundation and the Uganda Cancer Institute.

June 13, 2017 Bryan managed Judith Heard’s itinerary at Collective Fashion Week in Kigali, Rwanda amid throngs of fans and autographs. They also visited Genocide Grounds on World Peace Day.

July 2, 2019 Led the committee for the concert of British-Ugandan singer Myco Chris and launched the Kainos Foundation in Kampala Serena.

November 6, 2019 Filled the endorsement of TV presenter Sheilah Gashumba and Tecno Mobile in promoting market phone series, Tecno 12, including other press conferences and Yokuku content creation, and application YellowCard.

June 2, 2021 Coordination of Desire Luzinda Foundation International launch and publicity schedule in Kampala Serena.

July 29, 2021 announced the trip of Honey TV presenter Sheilah Gashumba to Capetown in South Africa for the first pan-African lifestyle show titled “House of Chefs” which aired on DSTV Channel 173.

November 2, 2021 Under contract with the organizers Xodus Communications of the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards (Accra, Ghana) to lead the entries. The criteria were public relations skills, integrity and charisma.

March 20, 2022 Disabled and on invitation as Country Manager, traveled to India Mumbai on board AirArabia for the Miss Environment International pageant.

Challenges

October 2019 Bryan’s business problem was reported up to 2020 by the Daily Monitor newspaper when Covid-19 hit. To cope, Bryan turned to advertising Sneaker shoe merchandise named “FeetBit” and was later named their brand ambassador.

Ultimately, any brand can thrive on controversy. During the height of the Coronavirus, Bryan was the link between his customers and their essentials using social media controls. Every risk and every challenge defeats fear.

Benevolence and philanthropy

Bryan is a volunteer who overcame adversity while devoting himself to charities, Angella Katatumba Development Foundation, Desire Luzinda Foundation and Judith Heard Foundation.

Beneficiaries of Muhumuza’s compassion include Uplift Lungujja Children’s Centre, Mulago National Referral Hospital and Uganda Cancer Institute.

July 1, 2016 Donated UGX 15 million to Mulago National Referral Hospital from the proceeds of the Mulago Yaffe Music Concert held at Kampala Serena Hotel under the Angella Katatumba Development Foundation ( AKDF).

September 30, 2016 Participated and shared a PR story on philanthropy alongside musician Angella Katatumba at the African Philanthropy Forum (APF) chaired by Queen Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda.

On March 30, 2017, along with the Diplomatic Corps and Angella Katatumba, hosted the Black-Tie Charity Dinner at the Kampala Serena Hotel, chaired by the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. UGX 185M was collected and donated to the Uganda Cancer Institute.

July 6, 2020 Handover of 250 Holic Pads sanitary napkins to students at Uganda Christian University on behalf of musicians Desire Luzinda and Sheebah Karungi in response to the effects of Covid-19 on menstrual health.
