Maruti Grand Vitara breaks cover in South Africa

Maruti Suzuki recently introduced its new Grand Vitara mid-size SUV in India and the car is expected to be launched next month. At the time of its unveiling, the company had also revealed that after the launch in India, the Grand Vitara will also be exported to other countries starting with South Africa. True to its promise, the company finally unveiled the SUV in South Africa. Suzuki is expected to launch the South African specification Grand Vitara in early 2023.

The South African version of this Maruti shares the same specifications as the Indian model. The Grand Vitara will be offered with both 1.5-litre K-series petrol engines. It will come with both five-speed manual transmission options or a six-speed automatic. And the manual gearbox will also offer Suzuki AllGrip AWD technology, which will also be seen in the Indian variant. The 1.5-litre full-hybrid comes from Toyota, which offers a purely electric range of 25km and comes with an e-CVT.

The Grand Vitara has already received a good amount of response from fans in India grabbing 13,000 reservations in a week. This mid-size SUV from Maruti is 4345mm long, 1645mm wide and 1795mm high. The wheelbase is rated at 2600mm. The Hybrid variant offers a dark chrome finish grille while the Mild Hybrid gets a standard chrome finish for the front grille. It comes with 3-element LED DRLs with integrated turn signals and the DRLs are fused into a chrome strip. The LED headlight is placed lower below the DRLs.

Variant Grand Vitara India-spec

While the interior of the Indian spec variant is black leather with champagne gold accents with a matching stitch pattern for the interior. While the Mild Hybrid variant gets Bordeaux leatherette with Luminant silver accents inside. The dashboard on the passenger side offers a leather finish which also extends to the door panels. The Grand Vitara cabin is also equipped with a 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ HD infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple Carplay.
